The bandsaw is a 9“ BS903 Ryobi. This tool should be used with dust collection. The blade used should be appropriate to the material being cut, and the amount of curvature of the cut. Wide blades should be used for thick material and straight cuts. Narrow blades for thin material, and curvy cuts. The blade guide should be lowered to just above the top of the material being cut.

* Blade size is 59 1/4 to 59 1/2 and 1/8 to 3/8 inch wide.

The blade angle should in most cases be set to 90 degrees. To do this, set the table angle to 0 degrees, then raise the blade guide fully. Use a small square to confirm a 90 degree angle.

Blades should be sharp. Dull blades won't cut well. When changing blades, the user will have to adjust the tracking, tension, two upper guide bearings, two lower guide bearings and the top and bottom back bearings.

Tension and tracking are controlled by dials near the top of the tool.

The bearings are loosened with a 2.5mm allan key. Bearings are on off-center shafts, meaning you need to loosen them, then use a slotted screwdriver to rotate them in or out, then tighten with the allan key. The bearings should be just shy of touching the blade. The upper and lower left and right bearings should also be short of the teeth of the blade.

When making adjustments, the inside of the bandsaw should be completely vacuumed, then blown out. The brush should be checked, too, to make sure it's just barely touching the lower wheel.
